Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
Anti-wrinkle injections
offer clients an effective, non-surgical alternative for reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
A protein can be used to block nerve stimulation to wrinkle causing muscles, which prevents the muscle from contracting and significantly reduces wrinkles and fine lines.
Cosmetically, a few tiny injections are administered under the skin, reducing nerve stimulation to targeted muscles. This procedure usually takes about ten minutes. Over the next few days, the muscles gradually relax, but full effect can take as long as 7 days. With continued use, the effects may start to last longer as the targeted muscles have "unlearned" the response that contributed to the lines.
Areas treated include:

- Frown lines
- Crows feet
- Forehead lines
- Eyebrows
- Bunny Scrunches
- Upper Lip
- Jawline
- Neck
- Under Arms (See Hyperhydrosis)
In its ten years of cosmetic use, there have been no reported long-term or permanent side effects from this treatment. Side effects are restricted to minor temporary redness or bruising at the injection site. There is a slight risk a client can experience a slight drooping of an eyelid or eyebrow, lasting anywhere from around one to six weeks.
Our Cosmetic Nurse Consultant Joanne Heggie assesses each client on an individual basis and a treatment plan is developed. Doses vary from person to person depending on facial anatomy and muscle strength.
