Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis
is the medical name given to the condition of excessive sweating. Those who suffer from hyperhidrosis report that is is a very distressing condition that can affect all forms of daily life. 1 in 20 people suffer from this form of excessive sweating, that affects mostly the feet, hands and underarms. Sweating is usually used for regulating the bodys temperature, but in this condition it is overstimulated.
The prescribed treatment is to inject a protein that targets the sweat glands in the underarms, responsible for sweating. The protein blocks the release of a chemical that signals perspiration. Most people notice a significant reduction of sweating within 3-7 days. Sweating can still occur but more at a "normal" level. It is not uncommon for people to experience an improvement for up to 12 months, however the length of time does vary. Sweating will gradually return to its normal level without re-treatment.
